My Take on Gainsville

To my dismay, I was actually quite impressed with the city. I liked the brick, which made me think I was back in Tallahassee and Main st., which was so freaking adorable and a fabulous place for college kids to hang out. But what they were seriously lacking was a Landis Green, (a quad of green for students to sleep, tan, and play sports on in the center of the campus)and a more compact campus. I did like how all the houses and apartments were set up and much nicer looking than the ones at FSU, but they are also much, much pricier.

I went to the see the bat cages at UF and waited almost an hour to see the bats practically fly into my face...it was highly entertaining.

In a way, UF and FSU are a lot alike, wither their brick buildings, Spanish moss and big trees, and cute local restaurants right around the corner. So why does everyone like to hate on each other? Besides the football, I would have to say the people. My best friend Joanne said their was more weird, nerdy kids there while at my school it's all blondes and sororities. the Greeks rode scooters at UF and indie kids ride them at FSU. There's just different stereotypes at the two different schools. But all in all the make up, the classes and education is typically the same.

but, needless to say, I think my little sister, Nikki, would like it better at UF than at FSU. Who knows, maybe we'll have a house divided!

Off to Gainsville

Oh man, after the crap that's been going on here in Tallahassee I need a vacation...to my rival school?! Yes I am headed to Gainsville to help my best friend set up her new apartment.
I have never been to Gainsville for a couple of reasons: 1) I do not have a car to transport me there. 2) Whenever my friends go to see a band or something, I have class. 3)I'm not really welcomed there seeing as I am a seminole.

But needless to say, I am getting scooped up by my best friend in less than one hour, and I will finally be able to compare my great city to hers...I'll try not to be biased, but I can't make any promises.

You'll see soon enough!

Ok if you know me at all it's these two things that I disagree with: Marriage and children. But after a late night of Stumbleupon, i came across Ben Blood and Elizabeth Anne's wedding photos. These guys are really talented and it makes me want to have a wedding just so I have pictures taken like this:

Kristy mitchell

now this lady is talented.
her pictures are so ornate and detailed that it blows my mind. Not to mention that she sets up the stage and creates the outfits and props all by herself. Now this is just a little nibble of her whole mountainous flavor. Take a look at some of her favorites here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kirsty841/sets/72157603407205053/

Pembroke Pines, FL

Lemme just say for the record: This place sucks. Sucks. It SUCKS. There is nothing to do here. The "happening" spot in the town is yogurtland...whop-dee-do. There is nothing here, and I'm so thankful that I do not live here.
You'd think it's a great location...probably is if you're a parent, because it is an equal distance away from Ft. Lauderdale, Miami and beaches but for a teenager, it's a shizz hole.

The money-tight mother

So my parents are divorced and my mother has just come to realization that it's not God taking good care of us but rather our hard working father. She's struggling and stressed but there is no reason to make me feel like I am a burden to her.
I just informed her that dad might have a chance a new job and she was like good we can give Nikki to him so I don't have to worry about her. Yes because we love feeling like we are the bane of your existence.
Even watching the four weddings show, she didn't mind telling us exactly what we're NOT getting from them for our wedding... "don't expect me to pay for your wedding."
Gee thanks mom, so glad that you care.

what a douche lord

So a couple of days ago I spent time in Tallahassee for my 20th birthday. I know it was a fun surprise too :)

I came home to find a bunch of people standing under a brand new gazebo yelling "Surprise!" I was very excited for my new contraption, because I've been wanting a place to chill outside with out getting eaten alive by bugs. This, hopefully, will be the solution to my problems. I'll send you a picture later.

But anyways, I also got some classy new things like a coach wallet from my sisters and some all pink RayBan's from Mark. I also asked for some art work from friends and my best friend, Joanne sent me some awesome inspirational pictures. These are definitely going in the living room:

Hatteras, NC

I needed a vacation ;)

Okay, so now I am offically "home" home, where my family lives in south Florida. After a couple of days in St. Augustine, I tried to remember how to surf and went into the old town for food and fun. Then it was off to North Carolina.

The twelve hour drive was worth it to be able to stay in this GORGEOUS house: God's Promise. It has 6 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms and is three stories high. The boardwalk that is right next to the house leads straight to the beach.
With all its open windows and light and spacious floor planning, it was certainly a place to let the creative juices flow.

But needless to say, I got my tan on instead :)

Not many people know that there is a little island off of North Carolina...crap I sure didn't know that, but this place is located right next to Ocracoke and can be taken by road or the ferry, what ever floats your boat (literally.) There's not much there, just a few local shops here and there, but the architect and housing is astoundingly beautiful.

Though here's something that you might not be used to: the sand squeaks. Yes, I don't know what it is, but when you're walking on the beach and your foot rubs against the sand, it sounds like sneakers on a basketball court. It was very entertaining.

Paolo Nutini

This man is a huge inspiration to me. His music is so diverse and different from your typical bubble gum pop songs. I listen to him whether im sad, happy, or just in the mood to actually feel something. Check out his new album Sunny Side Up on Grooveshark.

St. Augustine

I'm headed towards St. Augustine in about 5 days with a friend and her family. The last time I went there I had fun watching everyone get drunk in her beach condo but this time we're actually doing something productive: surfing. This beach, so cleverly named St. Agustine beach has white sandy shores and basically baby waves. But none the less I am very excited.

As we go through life, we collect memories, inspirations and opinions. Every step we take, we grow a little more, and every look back we get a little wiser. So let's wiser, let's get wonderful, let's get worldly.
